It is about the best thing in the world when your almost-grown-up daughter takes an interest in cooking! Because then she does the thinking about what dessert’s on the menu for the meal and she plans the shopping list and she does the work, too — smiling all the while. And all you have to do is eat. :) This scrumptious chocolate cheesecake pie graced our Thanksgiving table. It was heavenly! | TraditionalCookingSchool.com

I tell you what, it is about the best thing in the world when your almost-grown-up daughter takes an interest in cooking! Because then she does the thinking about what dessert’s on the menu for the weekend (or a holiday) and she plans the shopping list and she does the work, too — smiling all the while. And all you have to do is eat. 🙂

While Instant Pot chocolate cheesecake with blueberry sauce is a family favorite, this no-bake cheesecake pie whips up quickly without monopolizing the oven on Christmas Day, or heating up the house (just in case you decide you can’t live without it come summertime). Other festive no-bake options are nourishing peppermint cheesecake and pumpkin cheesecake mousse pie.

Chocolate Cheesecake Pie (Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Egg-Free)

This scrumptious chocolate cheesecake pie graced our Thanksgiving table. My daughter based it off this raw cheesecake pie but reduced the sweetener, made it chocolate, and used a different crust.

Heavenly! We just know you will love this. Makes 2 pies.

Course Dessert
Author Wardee Harmon

Ingredients

  • 2 nut crusts *
  • 2 packages cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • dark chocolate shavings, optional

Instructions

  1. Make the crust and freeze for 15 minutes.
  2. Whip the whipping cream in a stand mixer or blender until light and fluffy.
  3. Transfer the whipped cream to its own bowl.
  4. Mix the cream cheese, honey, cocoa powder, and vanilla in the stand mixer or blender until smooth.
  5. Taste for sweetness and adjust if necessary.
  6. Fold the whipping cream into the cream cheese mixture until well mixed.
  7. Pour cream cheese mixture over the crust, splitting evenly between the two pies.
  8. Sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings (if using). Freeze for several hours, minimum.
  9. Take out and let thaw for 15 to 20 minutes before cutting and serving.

Recipe Notes

*We used this tart crust from The Nourishing Gourmet, doubled.

Merry Christmas! I hope you are able to fit this pie into your festivities sometime soon! What is your favorite flavor of cheesecake?

Is whippING cream heavy cream or whipped cream?

Sorry to ask such a basic question…I’m sure it’s very common, I’m just not much of a cook or baker!

No problem! It is heavy cream, which you will then whip into whipped cream. šŸ™‚

I have never had any type of chocolate cheesecake before. It looks absolutely amazing. I will have to look into nut crust’s. Ive been looking for a good gluten free crust for awhile now.

This can be made dairy free with a little work. If you use coconut yogurt and allow it to “drip” so that you have c.nut milk cream cheese and use the cream from a container of full fat coconut milk, this should work. If concerned, 1 T of gelatin for 2 pies should be enough to firm it up nicely. šŸ™‚

My 12 year old daughter and I made this to take along to our family Easter dinner. We used a gf graham cracker crust. We loved it. I would say that my non-traditional eating family were not as smitten but we really did make it for us as we knew any other options available would be full of sugar and gluten (and we were right). My little family really enjoyed it. I did use store bought cream cheese but would love to try this with some homemade cheese in the future.
Thanks for a great recipe Wardee!
