Last September, I bared it all and posted How I Take My Coffee (It's Not What You Think). In that post, I shared a brief history of coffee enemas along with my personal experience of this detoxifying therapy. I was overwhelmed by the supportive comments and questions. Now, one year later, I'm STILL doing coffee enemas daily!
In this post, I'm going to share some of the things that happened in my body as a result of the enemas.
Coffee Enemas: A God Thing?
I started coffee enemas last year as sort of a last-ditch effort to save my gallbladder, which had been bothering me off and on for years. I'd wanted to try coffee enemas for a long time, and when I found a highly recommended gallbladder cleanse which included coffee enemas, I knew it was time. The physical and mental feeling following my first coffee enema had me hooked! Even when the cleanse was over, I continued to do them.
Some of my other health issues didn't go away, however, and it was after this post that I decided to try a different approach. I found a practitioner over six hours away who agreed to test and treat me long-distance. Dr. C is trained in a healing approach called Nutritional Balancing that is gaining popularity.
After my initial hair mineral analysis and consultation with Dr. C in February, we concluded Nutritional Balancing was definitely the best treatment option for the myriad of mysterious issues I faced.
Now, what is the God thing of this all? Coffee enemas are a HUGE component of Nutritional Balancing! I believe the Lord was paving the way for my future healing by giving me the wisdom to begin coffee enemas. I was already a step ahead in my game, so to speak, and it wasn't too difficult for me to incorporate the other components of the program: a slow oxidizer diet, physician-recommended supplements, rest, and lifestyle changes. (I have not been able to do near infra-red saunas for financial reasons, but I am doing my best on every other part of the program.)
Daily coffee enemas are just part of my routine now — my kids and my husband know what mom's about to do when the coffee is simmering on the stove! I even take my enema supplies with me when I travel. I enjoy not only the detoxification aspect of coffee enemas, but also the time it gives me to be alone and quiet for 3o to 45 minutes. I catch up on reading, listen to calming music, pray, and even watch movies while I'm in the bathroom. It's time well spent!
The Good
I have had many positive physiological changes take place in my body as a result of daily coffee enemas. In addition to accomplishing my initial goal and actually saving my gallbladder, I have also experienced other positive changes.
For one, I used to be extremely sensitive to caffeine. One cup of coffee would make me jittery and nervous, my heart would race, and I felt like the sky was falling or something. It was bizarre. I was afraid that coffee enemas would give me the same reaction, but they didn't! I started with a small amount of coffee and have gradually increased to three heaping tablespoons of coffee per two quarts of water. Coffee enemas give me mental clarity — a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed feeling. 😉
I believe coffee enemas helped my body tolerate caffeine much better. Although I don't make a habit of it, I am now able to drink a cup of caffeinated coffee without experiencing the jitters, nervousness, heart palpitations, or insomnia.
Another great result of coffee enemas has been that my skin is always clear now. Thankfully, I have never had a problem with acne on my face but my back was constantly broken out. It was really annoying and embarrassing, especially in the summer time when my back wasn't always covered up. It took maybe three months but now I have ZERO breakouts on my back!
I have also experienced improved digestion, better ability to stay focused, improved sleep, and lessened anxiety.
The Bad
Several times over this past year, I have experienced what can only be described as extreme healing reactions. During these times, I have been so thankful for Dr. C, who has helped me identify what was going on in my body. Coffee enemas are especially helpful for liver detoxification, and my liver was doing some serious detoxifying on several occasions.
In my first post, I wrote about the sudden rush of nausea and faintness that I sustained after my first coffee enema. It could be attributed to the large amount of toxins being released by my liver and eliminated through my colon at one time. Although that specific situation never happened again, I did undergo other healing reactions because of the toxins coming out of my liver, and they were kind of scary.
Four times, I have had actual allergic reactions during or immediately following my coffee enema. It started with a tickle in my throat and within ten minutes had escalated to wheezing, hives all over my body, coughing, watery eyes, and swollen lips. Dr. C believes that my liver was having a very difficult time processing the toxins from Phase 1 to Phase 2 detox, and that was most likely what caused these severe reactions. They lasted 20 to 30 minutes and slowly dissipated with the help of essential oils. Dr. C said that type of reaction is very rare because he had never had a patient experience what happened to me.
I also feel extremely “cleaned out”, and for good reason. I have been eating real food for about five years, but I was eating a very junky, very standard American diet with very few veggies and lots of processed food for 26 years prior. No doubt, there was a lot of old, decaying, undigested crud in my colon, and coffee enemas did their job very effectively! I won't go into great detail about what came out on the other side, but suffice it to say that it was very obvious by both appearance and smell (ewwww, I know!) that coffee enemas were really cleaning house!
The Ugly
Part of performing regular coffee enemas involves overcoming and making peace with the mental roadblocks that arise, namely the inevitable “ick factor”. I would be lying to you if I said I had never been shocked or surprised by some of the things I saw “on the other side”. Passing liver and gall stones has been a regular occurrence for me over this past year, especially once I finally hit and remained in Phase 2 detox for an extended period of time.
(As a person continues long-term detox, as I am because of Nutritional Balancing, the body vacillates between Phase 1 and Phase 2 detox. You go back and forth, and the amount of time you remain in each phase is different for each individual.)
How can you tell what liver and gallstones are?
Gallstones are typically pea green or dark green because bile, which is stored in the gallbladder, is green. Gallstones can be gray or white also, but I have personally never seen them. Liver stones are butter to mustard yellow. Stones float because they are less dense than water. In the last year I have passed a few hundred tiny and small gallstones and a few thousand liver stones. The largest liver stone I've seen has been about the size of a dime. You can Google gallstones and liver stones if you really want to see images of them. 😉
Another icky thing I've seen has been parasites. I mentioned this briefly in my first coffee enema post. Let's all just go ahead and agree that seeing parasites in the toilet is pretty disturbing, but it's very likely that we all have them to some degree. It's when they start causing problems (or when you see them in the toilet!) that you should be concerned. I was very worried when I saw the dead parasites, so I visited my naturopath, who put me on an herb-based parasite cleanse in addition to my coffee enemas. This past year I've done two 8-week parasite purges and am happy to say that I've seen no parasites in over four months!
Dr. Lawrence Wilson, a pioneer in Nutritional Balancing says this about coffee enemas and parasites:
It [the coffee enema] stimulates bile flow, mechanically cleans the colon, upsets many parasite nesting places, and the coffee is probably somewhat toxic for them as well. Many people call me to say they notice parasites in their stool after a coffee enema. Often they feel much better when the parasites are removed. The coffee may be directly toxic for the parasites, or the enema may just help loosen them and remove them from the body. The coffee enema also reduces liver toxicity and promotes extra bile secretion that weakens many parasites.
How Coffee Enemas Still Help Me
When you embark on a journey to detoxify your body from deep within, there are countless healing reactions or new “symptoms” that can rear their ugly heads and make the process less than enjoyable. Headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, muscle inflammation, allergies, and more are common as the body processes through toxins in Phase 1 detox and then releases them in Phase 2. Coffee enemas are actually useful in BOTH stages.
When I am experiencing a healing reaction such as a headache or nausea that seems to be “out of nowhere”, I can do a coffee enema, and within an hour or so, the reaction passes. It took me a few months to figure this out, but now I don't have to suffer for days during an intense healing time. I simply do an extra coffee enema or two that day and watch the reaction pass fairly quickly.
Coffee enemas also lessen the severity of food reactions, in my experience. A few weeks ago, I made a green smoothie for my breakfast, and within minutes of drinking it, I felt so awful. Stomach pains, nausea, and muscle weakness set in with a vengeance, and I could barely get off the couch for a few hours. It finally passed, and I felt fine. Two days later, I made the same green smoothie for breakfast, and again, the same stomach discomfort and nausea set in.
It finally occurred to me that there was an ingredient in my smoothie that was causing this, and sure enough, I had used a brand of coconut cream that I had never used before as the base of my smoothie. I grabbed a can out of my pantry and read the ingredients. (I'm normally an avid ingredient-checker, but because of the brand and store from which I purchased the coconut cream, I felt it was a safe choice. Wrong!) There was an ingredient on the can that I couldn't pronounce, and to my knowledge, had never had before. I felt so miserable but I tried a coffee enema to help my body process this food additive.
Within 5 minutes of elimination, the nausea and stomach pain were gone! After about an hour, my energy levels were back up and I was able to eat a light snack and make it through the rest of the day with no problems.
You can be sure I won't be using that brand of coconut cream again, but on the flip side, I was so excited to discover that coffee enemas can even help with food reactions. I'm not sure how this would work for allergenic foods like gluten or casein, but I can't see how it would be anything but helpful if one accidentally ingested a sensitive food and needed to get over that reaction quickly.
In the Future
I don't foresee a time when I won't do coffee enemas, unless I feel that my body comes to a point of just not needing them any longer. This easy detoxification therapy has been so instrumental in my own healing that I want to keep doing them and keep seeing great results. Even Dr. Lawrence Wilson has done them daily for over 30 years with no adverse effects!
Of course, I am doing them in conjunction with a whole foods, nutrient dense diet and excellent supplements, and under the supervision of a knowledgable practitioner, all of which I plan to continue.
Update: As of May 2016, after 2 years and 10 months, I have stopped doing daily coffee enemas. Dr. C. and my new naturopath Dr. M. believe my health is restored to the point of no longer needing them daily. If I desire, I can do one once every week or two, but so far I haven't felt that I need them!
Since my first coffee enema post, have any of you tried a coffee enema? Have you made it part of your routine? What benefits have you seen? Anything crazy come out the other side? Let's share with each other so we can help and encourage one another toward better health!

Curious what those were. I don’t think I’ll be that lucky to have a Dr on hand to help me through that
I need to try them. I had one done at a colonics session a few months ago but daily might make a difference. Long term challenges (long story) and last May I picked up Parasites somehow. Even though a cleanse helped I’m not back to normal (on top of daily stuff I go through). Problem is, I haven’t felt up to doing the work to do this. Your post might encourage me to get out of my chair.
Wondering if it makes a difference what kind of coffee you use. Does it need to be organic which would be more expensive if I did them every day. Just wondering how you do yours (how much etc). Thanks again. Glad they are helping you. Praise the Lord.
Hi Carol, I have done both colonics and coffee enema.I found that coffee enema works much better for me, plus you can do it in your home on your convenient time. This is my second years off coffee enema, and I feel so much better in terms of thinking, energy, suppressed most of my pain 97% sleep like a rock, clear skin, and my hair stops falling.I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid, and IC.There was a point where I couldn’t even eat any kinds of fruits, spicy foods, many types of bread. The only type of foods that I can eat is very simple, boring and blend.Yes you should use organic coffee special made for an enema. They sell all the things that you need for enema at Amazon. Also, drink organic vegetable juice with some apple added to it.I also took NAC, lypo -spheric glutathione, and I add Vital earth fulvic-humic minerals to my juice.
Hi Irene,
When you do a colonic you wash out the toxins in the colon and the coffee enema washes out the toxins in the liver. To save time you may not have to do the colonics as frequently but do them when you feel sluggish. As for the coffee enema I do them once a day for liver detoxing. I personally use 2 rounded tablespoons maximum.
Do you feel from experience to take any kind of binder to mop up any excess toxins? I hear so many mixed opinions from different people,
kind regards
I take chia seed and activated charcoal from coconut shells
I take N-acetylcysteine I take N-acetylcysteine (NAC) And Alpha lipoic acid along with fiber to help with more complete detoxification along with coffee enemas. I have noticed increased energy, and increased sense of well-being, mental clarity as well as some detox effects from coffee enemas at times.. These pass.. I have only been doing for a little over a week so unsure of what my benefits will be as time passes.
Hello. I am thinking of starting my coffee bean enemas back. Just want to know what type of pan you use to make yours, or do you use a coffee pot?
And glad to hear about your success in doing them daily.?
I should add that I’ve done all sorts of wonderful things diet wise in recent years and although I seen positive benefits I have not gotten well.
It sounds like you’ve got some deep, systemic issues, Carol. Coffee enemas have been vital to deep healing for me, beyond good food and supplements. It is vital that you use organic coffee if you decide to try coffee enemas. Conventional coffee is laced with pesticides, something you don’t want to put into your body if you’re trying to detox.
I use 3 heaping tablespoons of organic coffee with 8 cups of filtered water. You boil the water on the stove and add the coffee, and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Drain the grounds out, allow water to cool to body temperature, and do the enema. If you need more detailed instructions, there are a lot of online resources out there.
Best,
Lindsey
THANKS for the reply. My story is a long one (begins at birth and I’m 65 LOL) and I won’t bore you with it. I do drink coffee (one of my downfalls) and use Bullet Proof Coffee from Upgraded Self. It’s less toxic. But it’s very very expensive. I will definitely look into it. BLESSINGS!
I’m so excited to have someone to talk to about coffee enemas. I’ve been doing them for almost 3 yrs now. I haven’t had any guidance except for what I can find online and the gearson therapy book on coffee enemas. I have read that book over and over. In the beginning I used organic coffee beans and ground them myself but about 6 mths ago I ordered this organic coffee made especially for enemas. It is already ground. S.A. Wilton’s organic coffee. It is green! In the beginning I would make up a batch for 5 enemas and store in frig till I was ready to use it. Now I make fresh every time. I think it makes a difference. Definetly better fresh when you can. In the beginning that was to daunting for me. I have had great results with enemas but it is still ongoing with my healing. I too love how I don’t have to panic when I have a healing reaction any more because I do an enema and get instant relief. Thanks so much everyone for sharing. I look forward to sharing more with you!
Thanks for sharing your enema experience. I as well have been experiencing tramendous health benefits of coffee enemas. I am 4 month into this coffee enema and have been experiencing some detox symptoms. I can hear loud gurgling sound from my stomach after eating for about 3 days. And i was wondering if at all you as well passed a period where you heard this unusual noise from your stomach. I normally heard this noise while doing an enema but not afterwards. I am experiencing lots of gas as well.
How long did it take for you to get over all that detox symptoms and just start benefiting from it?
I was feeling great after coffee enemas but these 3 days i am very lethargic and also unable to get up in the morning.
My healing came in cycles. At first, it was a lot of detox, then I felt amazing for weeks and weeks. Then I’d go into detox mode again for a few days at feel tired, then back into feeling great. It was like my body was peeling back layers of healing mixed with healing reactions. Does that make sense? Also, you don’t need to feel like you have to do enemas daily. If they make you feel lethargic, stop them for a few days/weeks, then try again. You don’t want to overburden your body.
Myself and husband have been doing coffee enemas. He had a cancer diagnosis and has been doing them 2.5 months. I have the stress of being the care-taker and have been doing them 1.5 months. I had a flu like healing reaction at 2 weeks and husband is experiencing severe gas. Thanks for sharing here. I do feel tremendous healing from the enemas.
Hello coffee enema friends, This is a note for some of you who has a problem in holding the coffee in.Tried potassium salt compound. That what they use in Gerson therapy for people who having gas and cramp during the enema. When doing enema it’s important to also drink organic vegetable juice with apple added to it and plus minerals.I use a fulvic-humic mineral blend.I also realize that if I don’t drink my juice and took minerals I felt tired. Now I realize that juice, minerals goes hand in hand with a coffee enema.
Hi, I realize that initially, retaining the fluid many be difficult but I have been doing coffee enemas for several years on and off, daily for quite some time now. Retaining the coffee has not been an issue until yesterday and then again today. All of a sudden there was no holding it (walk in shower 🙂 ). I’m afraid there may be a serious problem and would be grateful for any input. Thank you!
Hi, can you tell me how many mil of water as I’m not sure what a standard cup size is. I started daily coffee enemas 1 week ago and truly feel it’s having a positive impact. Thank you.
A standard “cup” is 8 oz or 236.6 ml. A pint is 2 cups (16 oz) or almost 500 ml.
Thanks, for sharing. I also have done cleansing (coffee enemas) for 11 month, daily. I just recently stopped.(I was planning on taking a week long trip). Anyway, I thought after this long detoxing time I would start weening myself from the enemas. It has been difficult,(constipation, missing the coffee smell & that hour alone 🙂 I don’t know if I would completely rec’d Dr. Wilsons protocol. I also lost too much weight(I’m down to 115lbs I’m 5’3″). Not just from the enemas but the diet (it’s very restrictive). I currently am not on the full program(no supplements) but do the infrared light & diet. My story is way too long, but contact me if you you have any ?s…
T. Ruth,
I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had troubles! If I read your post correctly, you’ve been following Nutritional Balancing? Personally, I have not felt it restrictive at all…well, not any more than other diets I’ve tried (GAPS, to name one). It’s restrictive in different ways, so I guess different strokes for different folks, right? 😉 I’ve lost about 20lbs on the program, and I needed to lose that 20. I would still love to lose 10 more, but I’m not focused on the scale at all anymore. I know I feel better than I have in a long time, and that’s all that really matters to me. I’m not obese or even scientifically overweight, but I know what I look/feel like at my ideal weight, and I’m not quite there yet.
Anyway, were you working with a practitioner? It would seem that guidance from a practitioner who is trained in NB would help you with the weight loss and constipation.
I don’t endorse any program or diet completely, and don’t with NB either. There are certain things I eat that aren’t “Dr. Wilson approved”, such as sweet potatoes, avocados, tomatoes, and zucchini. This makes the diet even less restricting for me and broadens my options a lot. According to him, these foods are all no-nos, but again, I’m working with a practitioner and have his blessing to eat these foods.
Thank you for sharing your experiences! I hope you feel better soon!
Dr. Wilson? What’s that all about? Maybe I’ll do a web search. Thanks.
Wondering if Nutritional Balancing is the same as Functional Medicine? I heard a guy speak at our local co op on Functional Medicine but haven’t decided to try it yet. Not even sure what he charges. He comes into your home to assess the way that you live and eat and then orders tests based on the need and tells you what you need to do. You have to be willing to follow him 100% or he won’t come.
Nutritional Balancing is different than Functional Medicine.
My son was on the full program(he was having tics). The program didn’t seem to help him, we did the program for 6+ months. We continue doing the diet with him, though(not the supplements with the bare bones of supplements it was $150.00 a month). I also for 11 months did the coffee enemas, infrared light & diet(I didn’t get tested or do the supplements). The enemas helped me lots, but now since going of of the enemas I’m having issue(constipation). Unlike Dr. Wilson I would prefer not doing coffee enemas for 30+ yrs 😉 My other issue is not keeping on weight. When you take out carb, fats, fruit & all sugar you lose lots. I am considering eating sweet potatoes & avocados again. I think i’ll keep out the nightshade family (it often causes inflammation/pain). Thanks
I know this is an old post, but I’m hoping to offer help to anyone who might stumble upon it. Heaven knows, that’s how I’ve learned so much on this journey of research. I am not a doctor, but a well-read Mom, who has been there.
You stated that your son had tics, and I want to explain A possible reason for it. Search the acronym PANDA-Syndrome for more information. It is a disorder that stems from an untreated case of streptococcus that becomes a systemic infection. This can evolve into a whole host of symptoms, and eventually create a psychiatric disorder, such as OCD, anxiety, depression, and others. While your child is still young, the condition is treatable with antibiotics. You’ll need to find a practitioner who will address it head-on. My pediatrician (after years and years of doc-hopping) is both holistic and western medicine trained, and didn’t blink when I asked to look for PANDAS.
As a segway, my son had all the sx of PANDAS, but actually had a systemic infection of mycoplasm pneumonia, instead of strep. After treatment, he is a robustly healthy boy. I will forever monitor his emotional state to be sure we don’t need another round of treatment, but one year later, life is so good.
As for coffee enemas, they are AMAZING. I treat both my son and I as often as possible. I use a small catheter tube attached to a Fleet enema bottle for my son’s enema. Now, we both have another issue I’d like to mention here, called MTHFR genetic mutation, whereby the body cannot breakdown folic acid, and is without means to detoxify itself. Big problem. But the coffee enema does an amazing job of helping that along, and our health is just getting better and better.
LouLou, yes old post but glad you commented.
Glad that you and him are getting better and better.
Thanks for telling of PANDAS and MTHFR.
For treatments, do you give him a coffee enema?
I read and was told not to give a coffee enema to the child.
Another mom told me she also administered the enema to her son with the Fleet bottle. Reused the Fleet bottle after cleaning it. She also used a small catheter tube attached to a Fleet enema like you do for his enemas.
I use a Cara enema bulb syringe for giving the enema. Cara makes a 4 oz, 6 oz and a 8 oz reusable rubber enema bulb syringe.
The bulb is easy to fill, administer the enema with it and easy to clean after the enema has been given.
Always clean with warm soapy water. Rinse well with hot water. Then I rinse with a little bit of peroxide or alcohol. After cleaning I leave the bulb syringe sit out for a few days to air dry. Never put up damp or wet. This will cause mold to grow inside the bulb.
Always ask your doctor before giving any enema.
LOL not Barn A!
Barb A sorry.
Lou Lou, you, and others, may want to read “PARENTS GUIDE TO COLON HEALTH FOR CHILDREN Contemporary Bowel Health Among Children and Teens.” By Catherine Cavanaugh, R.N.
You can find her article at:
http://valerie_cct.tripod.com/parentsg.html
There has been some technical issues bring up the page. Hope it is fixed now.
She points out many of the causes of ills children have today comes from not having a daily BM, poor diet, lack of exercise and the parent not caring.
Very good article. She states the importance of monitoring the child’s BM and to make sure there is a daily BM. She also talks about the importance of giving enemas when one is needed. And how to administer enemas.
If using the Fleet enema bottle with the hose works then good. I find using the small reusable enema bulb syringe is much better. Instead of buying Fleet bottles and emptying them out of the stuff in them for enemas, it is cheaper in the long run to buy a rubber bulb syringe.
For my coffee enemas I use the standard 2 quart red rubber enema bag.
Hope no one yells at me for using a rubber bag for the enema. I cannot, at this time, afford the stainless steel expensive bucket kit.
I don’t think there is that much harm in using the rubber bag for the coffee enema.
Reminder, always, always consult your medical professional (such as doctor, naturopathic doctor, pedi, etc) before giving enemas or doing coffee enemas for yourself.
This is not medical advice. Just personal preference and experience.
For all and Lou Lou (3 May 18.)
I am not a medical professional of any sorts. Before giving an enema best for you to consult with your doctor first. This is only my personal knowledge and what I have done/purchased.
Instead of using a Fleet enema bottle I use a reusable rubber enema bulb syringe to give my three enemas when needed.
This enema bulb has been wonderful. I like the feel of it. The nozzle is good. Easy to clean before the enema and after the enema. I clean it in the kitchen sink with warm soapy water. Rinse with clear warm water. Final rinse with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. The air dry few days. I air dry it in the bathroom or sitting on the kitchen window sill.
Glad you and him are better in your health. Hope improves even more Lou Lou.
Lou Lou told she uses the Fleet enema bottle to give her son enemas. She puts a catheter on the Fleet bottle for her sons enemas.
I found it is better and easier to use a rubber enema bulb syringe. The Fleet bottle wears out. Hard to clean. And when you need to replace have to buy another Fleet enema and empty the contents out. Cost more in the long run.
Another mom told me of a better bulb syringe she uses. She showed it to me other day. I agree with her. So, I just brought an enema bulb syringe.
The new one is made of very soft silicone material. Easy to squeeze to fill and squeeze to give the enema.
It has a soft flexible nozzle on it. Which makes giving the enema easier. I just got it. Haven’t given an enema with it yet.
Blessings and
Hugs
Whoops…I put the link to the two enema bulb syringes.
Guess not supposed to “advertise.” Sorry.
On your own do search. Easy to find. For first enema bulb I used, look for “4 Ounce Infant Enema Syringe”. It says “Infant Enema Syringe” on the box and page. But, I have given many enemas to toddlers with it. It is the red rubber enema bulb with black nozzle.
The new one I got is “Enema Bulb, OTBBA Douche for Men Women Enema Kit with Certificate Comfortable Medical Kits Anal Cleaner Silicone Douche with 3 Replaceable Nozzle”.
Haven’t given an enema with it yet. I like the silicone bulb. Very very easy to squeeze and fill. Directions show to fill in sink, or pan, of water with the nozzle off. or fill under running water from faucet, pouring from pan of enema solution or bottle.
The nozzles (3 come with it) are soft and flexible.
I also am doing Nutritional Balancing via hair mineral analysis. I use a great lab, http://www.arltma.com. I did my first hair test 5 years ago and retest every 4-6 months. My story is too long to share today, but I came into this with years of poor health. After finally getting diagnosed with celiac disease (gluten intolerance), I thought that was the total solution. It was a huge part of it but more was needed.
After struggling with migraines and fatigue that got worse over several years, God led me to NB. It’s an awesome program for correcting years of bad health, but it’s not a quick fix and takes committing to several key aspects to get well. Supplements based on the most recent hair test, adequate rest, eating based on the oxidation rate shown on your test, drinking lots of spring water, and detox protocols are all needed. Coffee enemas have truly been life-saving for me. I have been doing them for close to 3 years now, and, yes, Lindsey, I can relate to seeing parasites coming out. A shock at first, but I’ve seen more than one variety and have learned the mantra of “better out, than in!” I’m seeing liver and gallbladder stones lately so I think those two organs are finally getting much healthier.
Part of the genius of NB is that poor health develops in layers and unwinds in layers. Naively, five years ago I thought I would be soaring by now!! However, a lot has been unwell with me for many years, and I now rejoice at the progress I continue to make. As a believer in the Lord Jesus, this has become a faith walk, just like the rest of my life. I’m so grateful to be finally headed in the right direction health-wise and dealing with root causes, rather than symptoms.
Whenever I meet anyone with chronic health problems, I recommend NB. I believe it has the power to reverse many problems because, at its core, it is changing our body chemistry. As a former boss of mine said, we are all our body chemistry, and that comes out not only in physical health but emotional and mental. It’s interesting how fear, anger, and other negative emotions can be reversed. One quick example, my husband grew up in a home where his parents expressed hostility toward each other daily. No violence but plenty of angry words. He came into NB with “fight or flight” tendencies and has had those his whole life. That is changing now since he is on the program.
Diane
I went to the site for the hair analyses and I take it you need a practitioner to do NB? I don’t know if their is one close to me. Wondering if it’s the same as Functional Medicine. I might do a web search to see what I can fine. Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear it’s working for you. Very encouraging.
Hi Carol,
Based on your earlier post, it’s not the same as Functional Medicine. It is definitely best to have a practitioner to do NB because it is such a different way of approaching healing. Dr. Larry Wilson, http://www.drlwilson.com, has trained many, and I use one trained by him, Dr. Larry McHaney. Look under the list of approved practitioners on Wilson’s site for Dr. McHaney’s contact info. He is listed under Arizona. He is excellent to work with, and there is no need to see him or any practitioner in person since everything is based on sending in hair samples. He is happy to speak by phone to answer your questions before you commit to work with him. He himself was healed of juvenile arthritis by NB.
If I can answer further questions, I would be glad to.
Diane
I would like to thank you for your comment. It is so encouraging and honest. It builds my faith to read it. I am a believer in Jesus Christ and I believe God has been building my faith and testimony through my health struggles. I just recently started coffee enemas. I did 7 colonics prior to starting. I also started taking Protandim about 2 weeks ago. I heard that can take a month to see benefits or even 3 months. I am a 29 year old man and have been suffering with chronic fatigue as well as other issues for years. Fatigue being the top problem, I have been trying everything I can find. Even after doing the things I mentioned, I have seen no major changes in my energy level. But you encouraged me when you said healing comes in layers and there are layers of to break through. So thank you and any advice is greatly appreciated. The positive changes I have seen from coffee enemas are seeing several green and white balls in my stools and my blood pressure has lowered so much that I have been off it for 3 weeks. ( By the way I am so glad people are still responding to this post in 2018. Its almost 2019. Thank you!)
Thanks. I did a search for practioner’s (spell?) and didn’t find many in CA and none where I live. Will keep it in mind though.
Again, you can work with any practitioner, regardless of where you or they live. Many people use practitioners across the country, some even across the globe.
I do encourage you to pursue this. It can be life-altering.
Take care and God bless you,
Diane
What you are saying is that they don’t need to see you in person? Ok! Then the only hang up would be the cost. I’ll keep that in mind. To much going on right now but maybe after the first of the year. And I can at least start with the coffee enemas which I haven’t done!
I think you will find the enemas very helpful. And, I agree with Lindsey that it’s better to spend the extra money and buy organic coffee. I buy a big bag of organic beans at Costco. It seems to be the most affordable option.
I don’t know if there is a way that I can share my contact information with you privately, but I would be glad to do that. Part of my heart’s desire is to seek to encourage people with chronic health problems since that is what God has allowed me to live with it for most of my adult years. Let me know if you want to be in touch privately, and we’ll see if this site offers any options.
Diane
Diane,
I would love to correspond with you about nutritional balancing and see how you are doing now. I’m not sure if this site has a way of getting this message to you, as your message was in 2014. I hope to try to contact you.
Hope you are doing well,
Kind regards,
Faye
I am just embarking on Dr Wilson’s plan but have just discovered I have a stone in the neck of my gallbladder and the lining has inflammation. We are waiting to hear what the radiologist has to say prior to further discussions but surgery was discussed as we reviewed my CT scan. I haven’t started the enema’s yet but I am wondering if you knew you had stones prior to starting. I am just concerned about doing anything to make this worse I have been struggling with my health and digestive issues for 4 yrs now and lost 2 pregnancies as a result of this struggle. I would like to end the pain and discomfort and it seems to me like to treatment to live with out a gallbladder is very much the same as to live with one like mine. I have also read and was told that stones will come back eventually. I am very confused and not sure I see the great benefit to keeping it if it is going to hurt either way.
Hi Amanda,
I’m so glad you are starting Dr. Wilson’s plan. Are you working with one of his practitioners? If so, I would ask that person your question about enemas and gallstones. If you aren’t confident in the answer you receive, you could also call my practitioner. His name is Dr. Larry McHaney, and his contact info is on Dr. Wilson’s site, http://www.drlwilson.com listed under Arizona. He’s been working with NB patients for 35 years.
I didn’t know that I had gallstones, but I am seeing those come out now. Coffee enemas “unearth” lots of things I never imagined I had. They seem to do so much good for the colon, liver, and gallbladder.
If I were you, I would try to keep my gallbladder. It seems that every organ God created has specific purposes. A red heat lamp may be helpful as well. Shining it on that area could help. Again, Wilson’s site mentions them. I shine one on my belly and liver area up to an hour most days, and I believe that is helping speed up healing of the liver and gallbladder.
I hope these thoughts help. You are welcome to ask more questions. Unfortunately, I’m not an expert, only someone who has also struggled with health challenges for many years.
Take care,
Diane
Hi Amanda,
I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been having gallbladder troubles. Gallbladder pain is the WORST! To answer your question, I did know that I had gallstones prior to beginning coffee enemas. I have seen the elimination of many gall and liver stones in the past year. Personally (and please understand that I am NOT giving you a recommendation, just my own opinion for myself), I wanted to do everything I could to save my gallbladder and not rush to surgery. There are too many complications and future issues that can occur after surgery that I just wasn’t comfortable with risking–not to mention I eat a very high fat diet, and a gallbladder is a necessity for me to keep eating butter, tallow, coconut oil, and lard. 😉
I have done several gallbladder cleanses in addition to the coffee enemas, and I’m happy to say that my gallbladder and I are getting along much better now. I highly recommend you check out a book called The Liver and Gallbladder Miracle Cleanse by Andreas Moritz.
Blessings and prayers for your healing,
Lindsey
So how do you use the two hand in hand? I’m doing coffee enemas now, and was wondering about how to combine that with The Amazing Gallbkaddrr and Liver Flush (Andreas Moritz). I’ve done separately with great results. I’ve flushed stones only with the flush…..not sure about stones flushing with enemas. Didn’t even know that could happen. Nice to know
I wanted to add this, Amanda. One of the amazing results of NB is that it changes the body chemistry. So it’s very likely that you won’t continue to develop stones. Seeing hair retests confirms how the chemistry changes, but we also see and feel major differences.
Anyway, hope this input helps.
Diane
Diane, thank you so much for your helpful comments on this post. It’s very nice to “meet” someone who understands both coffee enemas and Nutritional Balancing!
Blessings,
Lindsey
Yes, it’s always great to meet others travelling down the same road! Did you know there is a Facebook page for people who are working under Dr. Wilson-trained practitioners? It’s listed on his site and is wonderful. A totally supportive group, and I have learned lots from reading some of their posts.
Diane
What kind of herbal parasite cleanse did you do, if you don’t mind sharing?
I don’t use any cleanse. Dr. Wilson discourages using them because, according to him, they are all somewhat toxic. He believes that unless the body changes, parasites will come back. So his focus is on helping people change their body chemistry. I did try a mild one that only had a few herbs early into my seeing them come out. It made my stomach hurt all night and didn’t produce any more parasites than I was already seeing.
This may sound like a dumb question but did you pass stones through the urethra? I’ve never passed one and don’t know much about them. All I know is they are extremely painful. This makes me very nervous.
I haven’t passed kidney stones, which I think you are referring to. These come from the gallbladder and liver and just come out through the colon. I haven’t had any pain with them.
Lindsey, I really enjoyed reading this. Thank you for your honesty. Talking openly about the enema I see you have a true passion to help heal people. I wish it was not such an “icky” subject. I am confused why so many people I meet in the real food world look at me like I am nuts. I am signed up for the NTP (Nutrition Therapy Program) I have already started the reading because I am so excited. Tee coffee enema is discussed in one of my textbooks about using food as medicine written in 1992. On the suggested reading list is the book “Dr. Jensen’s Guide to Better Bowel Care: A Complete Program for Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management” When I saw that book on the list I knew I picked the right School! I had just bought the book the week before for my own Library.
I have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis and Lyme Disease. I was very sick for 8 years with over 40 brain and spine lesions. I met an Iridologist she said this will be easy you just need good digestion and you will be fine. That was two years ago. I have not had a symptom in over a year!!! We did a lot of detox and nutritional healing. Food has been my biggest healer.
Hippocrates was right
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” I also needed to heal my body from the eight years of antibiotics, chemotherapy shots, anxiety, pain and sleep pills I had taken. I am thankful for the coffee enema it has helped me get my life back. I also talk pretty openly because I want everyone to feel as good as I do!!!
You are awesome~ Keep healing~You are what you eat, think and feel. Be kind and real~Beth~realfoodinspiredme
Hi Beth – I am curious about what you did to get good digestion?
hello.. very interesting page here… i have been doing CE for almost 2 years as well.
battling adrenal fatigue – and a very bad liver /gallbladder.. and must say that Ce has changed it all for me.
I tried to do them dayli – but i tend to be dehydrated if i do them so often so i do them 3 times a week now.
Dont you have any problems with dehydration ?
i make sure to drink lot of green smoothies.. add himalaya salt to my food etc to balance my minerals all the time…
thanks.. i like your page ..
gert – denmark
Try adding a brand of salt called Real Salt to your coffee enemas. I have adrenal fatigue as well and the salt helps keep your minerals from being washed out of the colon. Grind the salt up in a coffee grinder then add at least 2 teaspoons to enema bag.
Lindsey,
I can so relate to your excitement about coffee enemas. I’ve been doing them for 3 years now and they’ve been key to my detox and healing journey from biotoxin illness. My husband and oldest son are also on board with doing CEs as well. They’ve truly been a life-saver for us.
Thank you for sharing your story! 🙂
Angela
Hi thanks for sharing your experience with coffee enemas. I really want to do them even have gone soo far as to buy cafe mam coffee recommended by gerson and all the tools necessary.i just cant get past the ick factor. Any advice for a newbie?
I just want to thank you for sharing your experience in regards to coffee enemas. I learned of the therapy through the Gerson institute, and I feel as though coffee enemas are strong healing aids. I’m rather new to them and the last one really sparked a bad reaction. I felt very anxious, jittery, and allergic reactions flared up which triggered my asthma, I couldn’t sleep all night. I tried one again, with less coffee and more water and It only caused nausea. I believe that it is because I am healing and perhaps my reactions where a result of too many toxins being released at once, that makes sense to me. I’m also transitioning to a completely raw diet with sprouts which I think causes detox effects as well and perhaps it was too much at once. Thank you again as I will continue on the coffee enema therapy.
Has anyone ever experienced a gallstone stuck after a gallbladder/liver flush (according to Andreas Moritz’ book). I find the epsom salts vile and hard to take although I press through.
This sounds like big bucks to me. I have very limited funds .. What would you recommend ? I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on supplements and so forth. Even an extra 50s a month would be stretch.
Paulette yes sounds like big bucks. But doesn’t have to be. Divorced mom working part time here. With two kids.
You can start with the red rubber enema bag. Do regular enemas at first. Taking any enema is better than none at all. Then get the coffe for a coffee enema. Start on a good diet. No hunt foods, gluten, sodas and such.
Once you can afford one buy a SS bucket set and a better nozzle for your enemas.
You don’t need supplements.
A series of regular and coffee enemas may help.
I feel great after an enema.
Not medical advice. Just how I feel and do.
My kids get a regular enema when needed.
Another mom told me about enemas and I am glad she did.
I know this is an older post but I was wondering what one could do on the program if they have an allergy to coffee? After extensive food allergy testing I am cross reactive to coffee. I’ve tried two coffee enemas and while both times I initially felt great and cleaned out, that evening/the next day I become extremely bloated and constipated. My functional medicine Doctor warned me against doing them because of the cross reactive allergy I have. I really want to try NB but am not sure I would be too successful without the coffee enemas. Thanks for your time!
Amy, interesting about your cross reactive allergy. I actually had to look up some information on that. Sorry but lost for any answers for you about doing coffee enemas.
Great that the two coffee enemas you got made you feel good and cleaned out. But I am at a loss to about the next evening you became bloated and constipated.
Was hoping Lindsey will hop on and have some answers for you hon.
Have you tried another type of enema? What happens when you try plain water enemas? or lemon juice enema? While not a coffee enema, another type of enema may help you cleanse.
Love to know the answer to your issue.
No not a medical person, doctor, here…so sorry can only say what has worked for me.
Blessings
Lori
Any ~ Here’s an excerpt from Dr Wilson’s website on coffee allergies & enemas you might find helpful:
“General note. Many symptoms that occur due to a coffee enema, such a fatigue, headache, stomach ache or others are due to the release to toxins that the body cannot get rid of fast enough. To correct this problem, I always suggest a complete healing program along with coffee enemas. This includes a development diet, an excellent lifestyle, and at least basic nutritional supplements, as discussed in the article entitled The Free Program on this website.
Also, doing a second coffee enema immediately may cause the symptoms to go away.
Abdominal pain. Coffee enemas are very safe when done correctly. If they give you abdominal pain or caffeine reactions, try lying on your RIGHT SIDE during your entire enema. Some clients report this works much better. For abdominal discomfort after a coffee enema, do foot reflexology, especially of the top of the toes on the left foot.
Allergic reaction to coffee. If you are sensitive to drinking coffee, often you can do coffee enemas, as it is not the same as drinking coffee. Very rarely, someone is sensitive to the coffee in the enema. Try using less coffee, or you may be reacting to a little mold in the coffee. In this case one may do better with bulletproof coffee (www.bulletproofexec.com/coffee/).”
My experience:
I have been a regular coffee drinker for a long time – no allergies to coffee or caffeine – however when I first started doing coffee enemas I also had bloating/gurgling and changes in bowel habits for about 2 weeks. I had added probiotics (by mouth) after the first week since I was new to the enema thing & wanted to get the healthy bacteria in as I was cleaning out. The bloating/abdominal discomfort pretty much subsided around week 3. Amount of liquid & time holding it has increased. The last 2 days I’ve started having mild headaches after back to back coffee enemas. Seems to be normal reactions. I drink more water and electrolytes, take basic vitamin/mineral supplements, and am trying to conform to the diet as best I can right now so lots of changes.
Just a note on other types of enemas – the primary goal of the coffee enema is to stimulate liver detox. Other solutions may help with cleaning the colon but lack the “coffee chemicals” that activate the liver detox.

I discovered CE’s about 6 weeks ago, when I had mentioned to a friend that I wanted to amp up my heavy metal detox protocol. After 12 years of dealing with chronic kidney stones, a year ago (October 2015) my symptoms finally manifested systemically on my skin – meaning they were moving around as bad rashes and hives, often headaches or nausea. I did not relate the severe skin rashes to kidney stones, as a doctor told me I just had an odd case of external yeast infection. I was given two creams – Nystatin for the yeast, and a steroid cream for the insane itching. It felt like something was crawling all over me but he insisted it was yeast, and since the steroid cream made it stop itching, I believed him. Finally with chiropractic manipulation, then some acupuncture, mostly to help me sleep at night, the rash disappeared. By February last year, I was on top of the world, but now my kidney stones were coming at least 2 each week. I was using herbs to pass them without pain, which I have used for years, and felt like okay – this is my life – do the kidney stone maintenance and as long as I have energy, great. However in June, we went on a camping trip and when I got home I had huge welts on my forehead and the side of my face. I contributed that to mosquito bites and treated with all sorts of things until finally the two creams were able to get it under control and I knew deep down inside it wasn’t just mosquito bites. In September a friend suggested that I look into the connection between heavy metals, yeast, and kidney stones, and started on a heavy metal detox (oral). That was rough, as oral detox programs shove everything thru the liver. Then I discovered suppositories which gave me excellent results, I could SEE the metals coming out and during the entire month of October, ZERO kidney stone symptoms. So this is when another friend recommended the coffee enema to enhance what I was already doing. It’s been exactly one month since I started on coffee enema, and HOLY COW!! I had no idea that parasites were inside of me, I was focused on heavy metals. But when I saw that first one come out, I felt that “rush” of relief, grossed out shock, and overwhelm, all at the same time. Over the past 4 weeks I have seen things come out of me that I never imagined. Some days are hard – I get to feeling nauseous and out of breath – or like today I haven’t seen any parasites and couldn’t retain for even 2 minutes today – but I get to reading sites like this and know I’m not alone and feel better resolve to keep going. If I’m nauseous, I know it’s because something is moving through the liver or the liver is blocked and doing another enema releases everything in minutes. I know that this is my reality for a while, and even though my family is not happy about me being locked up in my bedroom twice a day for an hour, and my adult kids are really concerned that I might be harming myself, I know what I’m doing is right for me. Oh – and by the way – since September (and today is Dec 10th) I have had only one episode of kidney pain – that is something I have lived with for 12 long years and it’s gone. I want to know why I’m so out of breath sometimes, but I think it will come soon enough. Be determined people, because you are the only expert on your body.
I have recently started a NB programme, and am working with a practitioner. I did my 4th coffee enema today! One thing I do find is the hypoglycemia symptoms afterwards. I eat something, but it still persists. It was worse when I upped the ammount of coffee too quickly. I am still only on a teaspoon and intend to work my way up. Does anyone else have this symptom with doing the coffee enemas??
I started the programme as I have numerous health issues, and having tried hundreds of different protocols which havn’t worked. I feel quite positive that this one will be different!
Are you eating a protein-rich snack or meal before the enema? When I do a coffee enema, it is always right after lunch, so I don’t get dizzy or shaky afterward. I recommend eating something high in protein (yogurt, nuts, boiled eggs, meat) immediately before doing a coffee enema. And if it still persists, I would recommend you stop doing them and speak with a practitioner. There may be another underlying issue that’s coming out of the woodwork. Hope that helps, Wendy!
Thanks for your reply Lindsey!
I tend to do the enemas about an hour after breakfast, which is usually quinoa and chia porridge.(I don’t know if that is cinsidered a protein meal) But then I eat a boiled egg directly afterwards. So maybe if I change that around then, and eat the egg before!
Thanks again for the help. I do appreciate it!
Perhaps eat the boiled egg WITH your porridge, so you’re getting lots of protein.
I’m thinking of starting the NB program, just a little nervous to start. I have suffered with anxiety and I get nervous when I don’t have someone there to explain reactions to my health problems. Are the practitioners pretty supportive? I have been following somewhat of the protocol already, and have been doing the coffee enemas for some time. I’m just not sure which practitioner to work with.? Just wondering if any of the practitioners work with methylation issues?
Faye, of course I can’t speak for all NB practitioners, but mine was VERY supportive and there for me every step of the way! I used Dr. Tim Chrisman at Dallas Whole Health. He’s amazing.
Lindsay,
I actually found him on Dr. Wilsons website, after looking up Dr. C. and Dallas. It’s pretty crazy, because he grew up originally in my hometown. It’s pretty small town here. My husband thinks he remembers him entering a talent competition where he was phenomenal on the piano. Anyway, I am looking forward to working with him, he was very kind, and uplifting from my conversation with him. I mentioned I saw his name from your website, and he said he just saw you recently when you came for a visit. I would love to stay in touch with you too, if you like, since you have been through the program. I’m so glad you shared your story, or I might have put off finding someone to help.
Thanks and God Bless,
Tami
Yes, Tami, Dr. C. and I became great friends and I was able to visit him last week! He is a classically trained pianist as well as a talented chiropractor and nutritionist. I’m happy to stay in touch with you!
Thanks Lindsay! I am getting ready to send my first sample. Is this the best place to chat with you?
Thanks,
Tami
Hi Lindsey, I’m so inspired by your post and am really looking to work with a doctor who is thorough. I’m not fully getting answers with the Functional Medicine doctor. I would be so grateful if you would share your doctor’s contact information. Thank you in advance!
His name is Dr. Tim Chrisman. He is at Dallas Whole Health in Dallas, Texas. You can find his phone number by doing a Google search (I only have his cell number.) He treats people long-distance as well!
Thank you so very much! I appreciate your help!
I loved this post. I am sure you already know this, but I found it fascinating that enemas are written about in The Dead Sea Scrolls. I am about to do my first coffee enema today. I’m excited. I really hope it helps me feel better.
I hope so too, Karla!
I’ve been doing CE’s since the end of December, 2016. I immediately noticed what looks like ropeworm after I release the enemas. I no longer get yeast infections. However, everytime I do a CE I still see these ropeworm/candida. How long was it before you stopped seeing these while doing CE’s and what type of parasites did you see?
I had tapeworm eggs, liver flukes, and roundworms. I’ve never heard of ropeworms. Another thing to be aware of is that coffee enemas more effectively shed the mucosal lining of the intestine, and when that comes out, it, too, looks very worm-like. 😛 I recommend having a stool test to determine the presence of parasites. It’s the only way you’ll know for sure. Then a naturopath can recommend a treatment to cleanse them out, such as black walnut tincture or other remedies.
Did you work strictly with your NB doctor for gb issues or also your naturopath or are they one in the same?
I enjoyed your post tremendously! This helps me so much and now I am able to help my friends who like me are looking for better health. I read where you got rid of stones in your gallbladder and liver. Is olive oil and lemon juice the only way to get that done? I cant tolerate it due to acid reflux but need get that done really bad.
I recommend speaking to a holistic practitioner, functional medicine doctor, or naturopath, Matiana. That’s a question for an expert!
Google the Amazing Gallbladder & Liver Flush. Ask your holistic practitioner who they think of it before doing it. I’ve done it a lot and have passed tons of stones from my gallbladder and liver. But it’s important to check with your practitioner before doing it. They know best if or when you should try it.
Hi Lindsey,
Anyone having a hard time retaining a coffee enema? I have 3 solutions that may help you. 1) Try using a concentrated 8 ounce coffee enema. I use a french press coffee maker (follow coffee maker directions) with 2 to 3 rounded tablespoons of organic coffee in 8 ounces of filtered water. I let it cool to about 98 to 99 degrees (body temperature 99.8 degrees). When you are ready to take your enema fill up 2 empty fleet enema bottles or one 8 ounce bulb syringe (follow directions that come with the enema). 2) Use a douche nozzle when using the enema bag/bucket. The douche nozzle has smaller holes (reduces water pressure that causes cramping). The flared tip will help keep the nozzle from slipping out. The longer nozzle will allow you to insert it a little deeper to help reduce cramping (safer than using a colon tube). 3) A ramp clamp would also help keep the water flow to a minimum because you adjust how fast or how slow the water flows into your rectum (the faster it flows the more cramping you will get).
Make sure that the height from the bottom of the enema bag/bucket is 2 to 3 feet above your anus or 18 inches to 2 feet from the top of your hips.
The 2 positions I find the best are 1) lying on your back with knees bent. 2) lying on your right side with knees bent (this position is best for coffee enemas). When you bent your knees it takes pressure off of the abdomen.
(ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER BEFORE USING AN ENEMA OF ANY TYPE OR ANY VOLUME).
NOTE: I have been doing enemas for over 20 years and swear by how they help you (they can save your life).
Hi Lindsey,
I forgot to say that CAUTION : LADIES DO NOT USE THE DOUCHE NOZZLE FOR VAGINAL USE IF YOU ARE USING IT FOR ENEMAS. EVEN IF YOU CLEAN IT. YOU CAN STILL GET AN INFECTION FROM IT.
Hi Lindsey,
After doing large volume or coffee enemas I take an enema that has 1 tea bag of black tea and 1 tea bag of green tea and 8 ounces of filtered water. I Fill up an 8 ounce bulb syringe or an empty fleet enema bottle to instill the 8 ounces. I retain the enema a minimum of 30 minutes or I let it fully absorb into the body. The black/green tea enema helps to boost the antioxidants and beneficial compounds found in both teas.
I just started coffee enemas about 2 weeks ago. I was doing one everyday for a week but I quit after a week of them because of severe bloating and gas. I would feel really good right after enema but badly bloated within 2 to 3 hours afterwards. It’s been a week since I’ve done one and I’m still badly bloated with gas. Is this a normal healing reaction? Should I keep doing them? Will the bloating and gas eventually subside if I keep doing them? Is this a normal reaction?
Thanks
Amanda, I think it’s best for you to speak with a naturopath or functional medicine practitioner to help you get to the bottom of this issue.
Let us know what you find out, I’ve heard of other people, as well as myself having experienced this before. Are you priming the tube all the way to the end before inserting? Otherwise you could be trapping air. Also a lighter roast coffee that’s considered more oily can also upset the stomach. I like to eat or take a probiotic after just to help my gut flora, if I do get gas, digestive enzymes tend to help break up the gas. Curious to see what you find out.?
I used an organic coffee specifically for enemas. I have recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism/Graves’ disease and I have leaky gut. I know now that coffee enema with leaky gut is a BIG no no! At least for me it is. I finally have my normal stomach back after taking high quality fish oil, L-Glutamine, turmeric and high quality probiotics. But I was drinking bone broth and juicing before that and probiotics and ate very healthy, no gluten dairy or sugar and after I did the coffee enema I was miserable! My stomach hurt with severe bloating, felt nauseated after eating anything and could not go to the bathroom for almost three weeks without help of a laxative and most times laxative still wouldn’t work. NEVER again. I believe in coffee enemas and their ability to detoxify the liver but they’re NOT for me. If you have leaky gut syndrome be very careful!
One more thing, Dr. Wilson suggests a medium to dark roast organic coffee, they tend to be drier and less oily. I store mine in the freezer for freshness and use distilled water. I was told to brew an organic chamomile tea bag and then use that water to brew the coffee, which is suppose to help with cramping.
HI, I’ve done two coffee enemas so far.
The first time I felt a slight but noticeable increase in mild arthritic pains. (Which is just how I describe pain in my wrists from eating wheat, corn, dairy, sugar etc.)
The second enema I did, I’m having pain in my left shoulder, shoulder blade, arm, wrist and an increase in aching in my left breast which the doctor says is not breast cancer.
I’m afraid to do another coffee enema after this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
The symptoms you are describing are the same symptoms I was having. I went to my cardiologist. I will be going in for a heart cath Tuesday. My EKG and stress was normal, the nuclear scan showed the blockages.
I’ve done coffee enemas but haven’t done it for a few months now.. Reasons are 1. It always takes a looong time to do them. I don’t understand how people doing Gerson have to do them 6 times a day. To do one takes an hour! (and I’m not talking about the preparation here.. just DOING the enema itself) And yes, cramps are terrible.. I have those usually. What is potassium salt that I read about in the comments? Any more info on this? 2. I’m very sensitive to coffee.. and still am. I usually make about 1/3-1/2 gallon of water and 1 flat scoop of coffee. If I make 2 scoops, I get jittery. Any way to overcome this? I guess I could do the enema more often, but still.. I hate the jittery-ness of it all!
My main thing though is the long time it takes to do it though… (and last time my kit was dirty I think, because I had a big issue with my intestines for about a week afterwards…. my fault though, so MAKE SURE the kit is CLEAN)
I’ve found a recipe for the coffee concentrate. You store it in the fridge which helps tremendously in not having to make it every day. There are ways to cut down the time…….I agree it is time consuming, but so important to do
Thank you Pam for your reply! Making the coffee isn’t what bothers me that much.. it’s doing the enema itself; specially because of the cramps.. that makes it take a long time.
Release it into you very slowly…put a chamomile teabag in the water or add a little chamomile tea to the coffee water to ease cramps. I also do a plain water enema to clean out just before I do the coffee. Works great. Deep breathing helps cramps also. I’m gradually getting to where I don’t leak hardly at all. When cramps start, breathe deep and relax relax relax
Chamomile, hm? Interesting… I might give that a try….
Works so well for me. I brew it and use about a half cup or so to the 4 cups of gold roast. Works incredibly to relax and not release too soon.
Agreed. Keep the enema bag low and allow plenty of time for it to slowly flow in. The slower, the better. I have it to a point of where I just barely feel it going in other than the warmth.
I got some Potassium Compound Salts by Statmx. I found an article saying you can take up to 7 tsps a day. I started putting one tsp in the coffee enema and I feel it does help with cramping as well as providing an electrolyte benefit. Purelifeenema.com has an explanation. It sells on Amazon for $11
John, are you using dark coffee or SA Wilson’s gold roast coffee? There’s a huge difference in the two
I’m using SA Wilson’s gold roast coffee…
I’ve found that gold roast coffee enemas support my liver. I have Epstein Barr Virus which wreaks havoc on my adrenals and only recently found out that these coffee enemas help to control the effects of the virus on my liver and adrenals.
Doing a daily gold roast coffee enema gives me energy for the day which endures until I go to bed between 9 and 10 pm. I’m currently just beginning a natural protocol which is supposed to kill the EBV in my body. Looking forward to seeing great results.
I most likely will do coffee enemas forever. I’m hoping to get to the point where I need them only once or twice a week.
Thank you for sharing your story. I too have been doing coffee enemas for about 6 months now. I can’t explain how things have turned around for the better concerning my health. I know that God directed me in finding this procedure.
I suffer from MCS and do coffee enemas several times a week. They help lessen detox and reaction symptoms. My hope is they will help my liver heal over time.
Hi Lindsey,
After how many enemas did you notice gallstones coming out of your body? I ask this as Andreas Moritz mentions on youtube that stones can only be flushed out via a liver and gallbladder flush. However, I have seen other people’s testaments stating they have managed to get rid of stones by doing only coffee enemas. I’ve only been doing these enemas for 1 week so far, so I guess I am going to have to be patient…
Hi,
I want to do a coffee enema but read that it can be harmful to your health (e.g. Infection, sepsis, etc.). I’ve also read that people have died doing this, 2- 3 cases reported.
I started doing coffee enemas and noticed ropeworms and countless amounts of liver flukes. At this time I went on amazon and ordered a pill that’s basically all these different herbs it’s called intestine pro…. the problem is now I can not go to the bathroom. I’ve tried laxatives, enemas, oils and so on! Unless I’m taking an enema or a laxative I can not go to the bathroom on my own and even when I finally go it’s diarrhea. I’m worried that I have a bowel obstruction! And idk if it’s caused by parasites or liver flukes that I have! I’m working on gettting health insurance so I can visit a dr but until then is there any suggestions for my bowel blockage ???
Hope things are better for you now hon.
Do hope you were able to go to a professional and tell of your concerns.
To be honest, there are many helpful people on here…but, possibly this is not the place to ask for such medical advice.
I have a few health problems. In April I had a heart attack and now have 4 stents. I was diagnosed with IBS-D last year and have been going to a functional medical dr. For about 2 months. Taking the enzymes and probiotics she recommended, based on my stool sample test, I am doing a little better. My normal weight is 118, but having flair ups of diarrhea for 10 days at a time, I lost 12 lbs. I am only 5”4, so I can not afford to lose any more weight. Because of the heart attack, I am on statins, Brilinta (a special blood thinner) and Metoprolol, to keep my heart rate down. Problem is, I went to my cardiologist a few days ago and had my liver enzymes tested. The ALT came back at 52. It should be no higher than 20. He had me do an ultrasound to check my liver and I am scheduled to find out the results on Tuesday. The strange thing is that I eat organic, no red meat or pork, never drink and eat lots of vegetables. I believe that the statins could be causing the high ALT.
Would love to do the coffee enemas, but am terrified for losing more weight. I already look emaciated.
I have also read that people have died using them. Would detoxing my liver be too hard on me considering the above information? And how do I avoid losing more weight as everyone on this post seems to have done doing them. Thanks for any info you may have.
Jessica, sorry to hear about your health issues.
God bless you hon.
Possibly best to get the answers to your question is to consult with a holistic doctor.
Wishing you the best hon.
Jessica, omg hon so sorry to read of your health issues now.
Praying that you have already gotten with a professional health person..i.e. doctor, holistic provider, etc… and gotten some help.
To be honest, possibly asking on here with your health issues going on is not the best way.
Please get well. and get some help hon.
Would be nice if you came back and gave a up date on how you are doing.
Blessings
Love it that there is someone who is willing to talk about the coffee enema and enemas.
omg have done coffee enemas many times. And absolutely love getting one.
Yes the coffee enema, and other enemas, are part of my routine. Enemas are routine in my home. Given when needed. I take enemas and give them to my children as well. Our health has improved since doing enemas!
The benefits are, of course, better health. Feeling better. Clear eyes and skin.
Refreshed. When I give an enema to one of my children I see more energy in the one who received the enema. The sluggish ways are gone. If he had a fever, the fever is reduced. Constipation is gone. Actually seen him ill before getting an enema. Then shortly after the enema he has improved! Amazing!
Nope haven’t, knock on wood, noticed anything crazy come out the other side. Guessing you mean worms? Parasites?
Wonderful that you offer others to share. Ideal way we can help each other.
Encouraging the coffee enema or regular enemas to others is helping them towards better health!
I’m so glad I found you and reading all the post has answer some of my questions. I started my enemas 3 months ago and definitely feel they are doing something in my system, plus they make me feel great.
I read several post about increased bloating and I’m having the same issue. Does anyone know the reason of the increased production of gas and is there something that can help. I was hoping it would go away but hasn’t so far.
Maybe if you started with a water enema first and then a CE with a smaller amount of coffee? I had to start with a teaspoon, and the only kind I can use is SA Wilson’s. I can now use a Tablespoon and it’s perfect for me in 4 cups of distilled water. I might try and increase soon, but I think the green coffee bean is higher in caffeine, so you really don’t need as much.
I can’t eat before doing the CE, so you might want to experiment with eating less, and maybe using 2 cups of liquid instead of 4.
I hope you don’t give up!
CE newbie here!
Started in May …. recently l have noticed a lot of clear mucous with/without BM .
What does it mean? Is that the parasites leaving my body?
I am a RN, so l know the drill- l will not treat you answers as a word from a professional. In other words; l will never use whatever you share against you/sue you.I just want to know your experience & understanding of this process.
Thanks in advance
I’ve been doing CE on and off for about 2 years. I don’t really follow a strict process with them because I see too much different information. Some say to eat a big protein meal right before you do them, others say it doesn’t matter. I see that some people recommend juicing afterwards and other people say to take livaplex in conjunction with the CE. I know sometimes I get the gurgling noises and other times I don’t. While there is, ahem ??, scary stuff from “the other side” feel like maybe I’m not doing them properly or something. Also I’m looking for how you know about phase 1 and 2 but unless I’m overlooking something I can’t find anything about it. I currently take NAC and a glutathione.
I have been using coffee enemas for almost a year now. I have found that a tap water enema to cleanse my bowel before the coffee enema, allows me to retain the coffee for the usual recommended time frame. A few minutes in between lets my colon calm down and prevents a premature peristaltic reaction.
After releasing the coffee enema, I like to do a cold/cool water enema as a follow up flush. This helps release any left over coffee and may well return my bowel to a better state.
Mo, avoid tap water enemas as tap water has harsh chemicals in it. Use filtered water or at least boil the tap water.
18 years ago I developed a cancerous tumor and the doctors wanted to cut it out, burn me with radiation and poison me with chemo. My father had gone through the same thing and it killed him, so I rejected it and set off on my own. I chose gerson therapy, but it was too expensive, so again, I set out on my own. I have done hot dalt-water coffee enemas for 18 years first daily enemas now only Monday Wednesdays and Fridays, but the cancer is gone, the tumor shrank back to nothing, all the symptoms are gone and I enjoy robust health at 72.
Can you share the specifics of your actual coffee enemas (amount and type of coffee used), any other things you included (supplements, essential oils).
Thomas, look up SA Wilson Coffee. For me personally, I boil 1 bottle of filtered water 16-20oz with 2 ounces of coffee for 5 minutes once the water boils. After 5 minutes, I add another bottle of filtered water and shut the stove off. The 2nd bottle helps cool it down a little while adding more to the coffee enema. I leave the STAINLESS pot on the burner with the burner off until it is very warm to the touch “usually 10 minutes”. You need to keep it warm, as warm as you can handle it. I used to just add 2 bottles of water to 2 ounces of organic coffee and boil it for 12 minutes which is fine. Make sure you use a stainless kettle or pot and a stainless strainer to pour your coffee through into a large cup. You don’t want those coffee grains going up inside of you.
I started doing organic coffee enemas 4 years ago due to hepatic steatosis of my liver. Non alcoholic, non drugs. Mine was caused by energy drinks. I woke up one morning with jaundice. My bilirubin level was extremely high. My liver is now healed and has been for 3 years, but I continue doing 1-2 organic coffee enemas every day. I love them. It is my time to relax and cleanse the negativity away. Doing the enemas has never interfered with my body’s natural bowel movements. I plan on doing them for the rest of my life. I enjoyed your article.
