Ever tried to make your own homemade hair products? Coconut oil made my hair a greasy mess; another concoction gave me a flat head. Then I came across something that not only worked, it was affordable. My homemade hair gel (together with my citrus hair spray) provides better, healthier, and more holistic results than anything I used to buy!

Citrus Hair Spray

I use this citrus hair spray to keep my sometimes unruly hair from flying away. Makes 1 small spray bottle.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cut up the orange and lemon into small pieces (leave the peel on).
  2. Pour water into a saucepan and add the orange and lemon pieces.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer until about 1/2 of the water is absorbed (or evaporated).
  5. Cover a pint-sized mason jar with a piece of cheesecloth and secure it to the jar with a rubber band.
  6. Pour the liquid through the cheesecloth into the jar, letting the cheesecloth catch the fruit pieces.
  7. Squeeze the remainder of the fruit (through the cheesecloth) into the jar.
  8. Let cool.
  9. Pour the strained citrus liquid into the spray bottle.
  10. Store in fridge when not in use.
  11. Lasts about 1 month.
