What’s in Episode #1?
In this episode of Know Your Food with Wardee — called Traditional Foods and Preparedness — you’ll get to know me and my family and my homestead. I’ll share why I started a podcast and what you can expect in the weeks to come. Plus, I’ll talk about how my family is merging both traditional foods and preparedness to come up with a long-term food storage plan, including some nitty gritty details.
What’s Coming Up…
Next week on Know Your Food with Wardee, my guest is Joseph Bray of Wholesome Family Farm. We’re talking about raw dairy and raising dairy animals. We had a great conversation (he’s a fantastic and knowledgeable guest!) and you won’t want to miss it, so I’ll see you back here next Friday for that.

Hi Wardee,
I just discovered your site and I am so excited about it!! I have recently begun the journey into traditional foods and healthier living. Do you have any advice for me about how to ask farmers about goat shares for milk. It is extremely dificult to find raw goat milk where I live and when you do find it is sooo expensive??? I thought a “share” might alleviate the cost a little bit. I am also interested in cow sharing because I can get raw cow milk, but raw butter and cream are illegal in MA. I was hoping to be able to get these if I had a share in a cow. Any suggestions?? Thanks and God bless, Noahla

Noahla — The next two podcast episodes are right up your alley with regard to looking for raw milk shares. Please do listen in!

I was just wondering at what temp. do you usually dehydrate things for preparedness?
Your information is amazing!! Our kids have been having problems with food allergies and I am having to take great measures to cook differently….so your website has come at the perfect time:)
Wardee says
I dry fruits, veggies, herbs, and yogurt at 115 or less. I dry meats as high as my dehydrator goes. Same for eggs. I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and do come again!

This is coming at a perfect time for me. I had already made it a goal to try and grow enough produce next year to sustain us for the year and am working on plans for what we’ll need to do to make that happen. We are also going to try and raise at least some of our own meat and hunt on our land the Lord blessed us with this last year. I look forward to seeing what you have to share on this topic. I have much to learn!
