What is your name and the names of your family members?
We’re the Romans Family. Dad, Billy, is the guy who does the tilling and maintaining of the perennial fruit. Helping with weeding. He has special interest in tomatoes. Mom, Nancy, oversees all aspects of planting and harvesting. She is the “original” farmer. Her special interest include herbs and teas. Nathan is the guy always in the garden. You will rarely see him at any market or CSA delivery. He has special interest in corn. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, trapping and taxidermy. Hannah is the asparagus girl. She helps with all marketing and CSA deliveries. Her hobby is raising quail. Andrew is 12 and helps wherever needed with special interest in the shade tree! Rhashell likes raising a little of everything with special interest in the CSA and greenhouse. She does the internet advertisement and marketing. Son-in-law Alan is the chef and loves all heirlooms with special interest in raised beds and tomatoes. Sorren, Billy and Nancy’s grandson and the son of Rhashell and Alan, is 6 and helps a little too much! He loves to harvest cucumbers with special interest in the swimming pool.

We specialize in heirloom veggies of every kind. Animals include goats, chickens, ducks, guineas, and quail. We have fruit including blackberries, strawberries, apples, plums, pears, peaches, grapes and fig.

How did you get into farming/homesteading?
Came from a long line of farmers.

Any future plans?

My husband and I recently moved to an acreage and would love to someday be able to offer some sort of CSA type thing. We’re still getting our bearings as far as country living, what grows well, what doesn’t, animals, and all that. We’re still some ways off, but I loved touring your operation and what you are doing is so inspiring! Best wishes!
