By the age of 40, Megan had been diagnosed with 5 serious health conditions, including arthritis, Hashimoto’s, and other auto-immune diseases. Today? Megan is healed, thanks to a gut-healing, grain-free, sugar-free diet.
Not your normal restricted diet, though — no deprivation here! She and I sat down (in the same room!) for this chat to talk about her story and her approach to beautiful, feast-worthy, gut-healing foods.
These are the same foods she’s sharing with you in her new cookbook, Eat Beautiful: Grain-Free, Sugar-Free and Loving It. I am so thrilled her cookbook is ready! She’s been working on it for 3 years and that’s about how long I’ve been waiting to find a gut-healing cookbook I can recommend.
Megan and I are close friends from college. She and her family own and operate Vanilla Jill’s Scoops and Soups, a Paleo Cafe in Eugene, Oregon. Here’s a picture of me and Megan there recently — I and her book’s editor stopped by to celebrate the release of her cookbook.
Our podcast is below. Plus… 2 video chats and the tip of the week!

Tip of the Week: Get The Same Sweetness With Less Sweetener!
This tip comes from Megan! 🙂
Use 2 sweeteners — one of them stevia and the other honey or maple syrup or coconut sugar — and you’ll get the same level of sweetness with much less sweetener used! Plus, you get a better taste because the possible stronger flavors of each sweeteners are balanced out or cut back.
This is a technique used often in Megan’s cookbook, Eat Beautiful: Grain-Free, Sugar-Free and Loving It.
Thanks, Megan!

About the Book — Eat Beautiful: Grain-Free, Sugar-Free and Loving It
I finally have a gut-healing cookbook to recommend! You might notice on the cover image that I wrote the foreword (such an honor). All these years that I’ve been talking about gut-healing diets, I didn’t really have an awesome cookbook to recommend.
Now I do. This is it.
It’s currently 50% off, and comes with 5 bonus videos with extra recipes and an introduction to the brand-new grain-free baking technique that ALONE is worth buying the eCookbook.
Her grain-free bread method is amazing. I haven’t seen it anywhere else and it makes absolutely delicious, moist, and digestible baked goods like panini sandwich loaves (pictured above), muffins, scones, and more. They’re to-die-for and oh-so-easy to make.
Click here for more info about the special eCookbook package.
As you turn the pages and try the recipes in Eat Beautiful, I know you will feel and experience the same thing I did when I first met Megan: hope. Hope that your healing journey will end someday, and that along the way, the food you eat will deeply nourish your body, as well as thrill your soul (and your tastebuds) with its beauty.

Hi Wardee,
These two videos and recipe book came at the perfect time. I want to start going grain free beginning in August and I literally prayed to God to help me with figuring out what to eat instead. The next day I looked at my emails and your email was waiting with the Eat Beautiful information. Praise God! This cookbook will make the transition a lot easier. One thing I have a major problem with is bloating anytime I eat anything fermented. I make my own Kombucha, was making kefir and I make my own sauerkraut. Unfortunately with each I experience major bloating and ended up stopping the kefir because of extreme discomfort and keeping the other two at a minimum. I am wondering if going grain free will actually help this problem. It will be interesting to find out. Thanks for sharing the info to help us in our quest for the best health possible. Angele

Hi Angele, this is Megan, from the videos with Wardee and from Eat Beautiful. I am not a nutritionist. But based on my experience, it sounds like you have SIBO, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. I have it too and there isn’t a great “cure” at this point except a few good theories. Probiotics, from food, make it worse, because they contain, among others, lactobacillus which over-grows in the small intestine when you have this condition. There are a couple probiotics that are safe while you work on healing your gut. 🙂 One is called Prescript Assist and the other one is Saccharomyces Boulardii. They can both be purchased from Amazon, if you are interested. You can be tested for SIBO, to be sure, by a naturopathic or functional practitioner. The grain-free, sugar-free diet is excellent for this too. Hugs, Megan

Inspiring. Entertaining. Positive. Those are the words I use to describe the videos and podcast. Really liked the videos as it’s nice to see beautiful and sincere faces providing a message of hope and encouragement. Thank you.

Thank you, Melissa, so appreciated! 🙂

Do the baked goods in your new cookbook have flax seed in them? If so, is there an alternative for the flax.

I am so inspired by these articles! I have been talking to a friend, that is going to school to be a Naturopath, about starting a business selling bone broth. I have been looking over licensing information and feeling very overwhelmed as to where to start. If you have any advice, I’d greatly appreciate it. My dream would be to operate a restaurant similar to yours someday. 🙂
