Hand tools… they’re my weakness.

A good hand tool wins me over with its beauty and function. I do everything I can to avoid the noise and mess of an appliance.

Not that I hate appliances, just that if I can reach for a hand tool to do something well, I’ll choose that every time.

Life is just simpler and better when you have a good tool that gets the job done with very little fuss.

Wouldn’t you agree?

And so, here are my favorite 8 eclectic, fun, and useful hand tools. What are yours? Please share in the comments!

I have most of these…only the butter mold that I don’t I think, although sure wouldn’t mind one of those too! My Dad made me my kraut pounder…he made it double ended, one end fits in a wide mouth jar…and one end in a narrow mouth jar. That was all his idea, I hadn’t thought of having one end for narrow mouth jars, cause I hardly ever use them…but I loved the idea once I had it for just in case. :-))

I do have to admit though, that the danish whisk isn’t something I use…never got the hang of it I guess or something. I would rather use my wooden spoon, which probably means I just need to actually LEARN how to use the whisk…but since I haven’t…it sits in my drawer. LOL I’ve even considered getting rid of it as I don’t have lots of drawer space…but I haven’t yet, will hang onto it and hope eventually I can learn to love it. LOL

Deb M ~ What a lovely idea to make a double ended kraut pounder! You could always use the whisk as decoration. 🙂

I just have a few more tools for consideration.
    * Silicone spatula – for scraping that last bit of dough out of a bowl
    * Wire whisk – for beating eggs and whipping cream
    * Garlic press – I know you mentioned crushing garlic with a mortar and pestle, but it can leave a strong smell behind that might get absorbed by sweet spices not particularly compatible with it.

How fun! I have all of these! Some of them I need to be more diligent about using but I look to be pretty well equipped. 🙂
