Up until last May, I was working out regularly and watching my “carbs”. Yet even though I’d been eating healthy for many years, I was still gaining a bit of weight each year. Then it all turned around. In the last year, I’ve lost more than 30 pounds. Here’s how I did it… with 100% traditional foods.

I saw your Facebook post about the upcoming podcast on THM yesterday. It sounded interesting so I googled the book. I started reading reviews about it, wondering if it would help me. I wished I could read a review from someone I trusted and believed in the real foods to direct me. After a little bit(the light bulb came on) I realized I had YOU as my trusted source. Therefore, this weekend I am going to start the THM (without the frankenfoods). Thanks!!

Chelle — Wow, I’m just thrilled for you. Be sure to keep me posted. I’m rooting for you! 🙂

I don’t use frankenfoods ..I eat organic when I can ,and I eat real food ,and bake htm cookies and treats but I found overdoing those stall weight loss .its a journey to finding freedom ..and looks a bit different for everyone..

Thank you for this podcast, it was great! I’m so glad you are comfortable in your body and feel healthy, that is very important.
I bought the book when it came out, tried if for a little then stopped. I don’t know if it was that it didn’t “feel” natural, or that I soon became pregnant and needed crossovers but I did find it hard not to eat some carbs with my s meals. Potatoes go so well with roast for example. But, now that I would like to get the rest of the baby weight off it seems like a good option. Did you find that it took a lot of extra time and energy to make a different meal or meal options for you than for your family? And was it hard when you were out to avoid the sugar in prepared meals and deserts? Or did you go off plan occasionally? Also, I am concerned about regaining the weight if I did eat honey or maple syrup again.
Wardee Harmon says
Nicole — Thanks for your comment. I didn’t find it took much extra for me to have THM meals. This is probably because I’m used to keeping components of meals separate. Family members have different amounts of the protein and starch in the meal. So then I just serve myself the parts I could eat and skipped the parts I couldn’t. Off plan? I have gone off it about once a week for the last couple months. Before that, I stayed pretty true to it (with the exception of the occasional potluck or meal out).

You say you can add unsweetened coconut to the yogurt & presoaked & dried oats. Wouldn’t the coconut be considered “s”? Thank you for answering this for me.
Wardee Harmon says
c – Usually unsweetened shredded coconut is defatted (it’s leftover from pressing out the coconut oil), so I use it in either E or S settings. As there’s no sugar or fat.

I’m sorry, maybe I am missing it but where is the anti-fungal roll-on recipe? I don’t see it here in the show notes. Thanks!!

Wardeh – I assume you steered clear of Dreamfiled’s and pasta substitutes such as those. If correct, what did you use in pasta meals? Did you just abstain or go for squash noodles, perhaps? I love pasta! But, I really don’t like the idea of the franken pastas 😉 Thanks!!
Wardee Harmon says
Aj – I either abstained or used squash/zucchini/cabbage noodles. 🙂
Vanessa says
Did you use the glucomannan they suggest Wardee?
Wardee Harmon says
Vanessa – No, I didn’t.
Gabriella says
Wardee, how did komucha fit into this plan? I have not read the book yet, I had looked into it the site a while back and I was concerned about the use of convenience foods and artificial sweeteners. Glad to get the tips for keeping the foods natural! What made you decide on this plan? There are so many plans out there it’s so difficult to know what’s worth doing. I have had the same problem you have, I eat clean and wholesome foods for years and exercise but never manage to lose any weight and slowly gain. So you got my attention with yours story but was curious how you came to decide on THM?
Amy H. says
Thanks, Wardeh! I’m coming back to this after reading the book, and I have a few more questions now:
– could you please share a video on when in the goat cheese and cheddar making process you skim the fat? And same with yogurt? Is it still compatible with the gelatin raw milk yogurt process you’ve shared?
– what about kombucha that has to be made with a real sugar?
Thanks!

Thank you so much for this helpful post. I’ve been trying to figure out how I could follow the THM principles while still incorporating my traditional way of eating.
Did you happen to come up with a way of soaking the oats for the THM pancake recipe? If so, I would love to know how you did it! I tried the THM pancake recipe in the book and it’s delicious…I just don’t want eat un-soaked oats on a regular basis. Thanks again for this post, I really appreciate the info!

Hi Wardee,Did u steer clear from white potatoes, as recommend on thm? It’s the hardest part for me!
Danielle says
Hi Elaine,
Yes. Wardeh did steer clear of white potatoes.
You may try cauli-rice or cauli-tatoes instead.
