Whether it’s aches, pains, or sore muscles, or connecting physically with your one and only…
…massage is the answer.
And to do the job right — you need massage oil. Not lotion.
Lotion doesn’t cut it (it absorbs too quickly so it doesn’t last as long).
And body butter is ok, but it’s thick and a bit harder to spread on. (It does last longer than lotion, though.)
So… in our house… homemade massage oil with essential oils is IT.
And I love making our own!
Making it is cheaper than buying it. And actually, I would make it myself even if I had to pay more, because I can make the healthiest massage oil that also smells just how we want it.
Our skin is an organ, too, and highly absorbent at that, so it’s important to use the highest quality — and even edible — ingredients.
I prefer to use cold-pressed, organic sweet almond oil as the carrier oil in my homemade massage oil with essential oils. This is because it’s super nourishing to the skin as well as being safe if somehow it got ingested.
As for essential oils (recommended brand), I usually go for an uplifting, sensual blend (recipe below). It’s also not too feminine so my husband likes it, too. And again, the oils are considered safe for both external and internal use when diluted with a carrier oil.
Love doesn’t get much better than this…
And now for the homemade massage oil recipe, which is wonderful with these tastefully done instructional massage videos for couples. 🙂
Makes 2 ounces.
- Combine essential oils and carrier oil in opaque glass jar or bottle.
- Store in a cool, dark location when not in use.
Have you ever made homemade massage oil with essential oils? What essential oils do you add?
