"Green" Smoothie | This 'green' smoothie is absent of all leafy greens (which shouldn't be eaten frequently in their raw form). It's a blend of granny smith apple for a bit of sweetness, celery, a carrot, some parsley, ginger, and coconut water -- the perfect pick-me-up as the afternoon slump hits! Or a great way to start your day! | TraditionalCookingSchool.com

Need an afternoon pick-me-up?

Or how about a yummy breakfast drink?

This green smoothie is blended with granny smith apple for a bit of sweetness, and celery, a carrot, cilantro, ginger, and coconut water — the perfect energy booster to get you through the day!

It also doesn’t have any dark leafy greens like kale or spinach, which are best consumed steamed because otherwise they interfere with mineral absorption. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to hang onto my calcium, magnesium, and iron!

Have trouble eating enough veggies every day? Try drinking them instead!

If you want something sweeter, add more apple, pineapple, honey, or stevia. I’ve been hankering to try lemon juice and cucumber. And if you just can’t do without your greens, you can always add spinach pucks to your smoothie!

As someone who can’t eat anything other than the occasional green leafy veg, this is awesome!

    Hi Katie,
I noticed in your written description of the smoothie that you put some parsley in the mix, but in the actual recipe the ingredients include cilantro, but not parsley. Just wondering if you include one or the other…or both! I have had parsley in green smoothies, but never cilantro. Just curious! Thanks for the recipe!

    Blessings,
    Jen

Oh, thank you for catching the mixup! It should have been parsley, but I have used cilantro as well.

Do you know if moringa leaves need to be/ or should be steamed? I heard that they were low oxalic acid, but curious what your thoughts are on that. Thanks so much for this post and will definitely rethink steaming my veg for my green smoothies!

Oh, I’m not sure. If they are low in oxalic acid I would assume not. Do you have a moringa tree? I just learned about the wonders of it about a year and a half ago!
