There’s just one problem with barbecuing…
…it can get old fast. Burgers again? Grilled chicken again?
Although some of us rarely tire of grilling, there are sometimes people in the family that beg for more variety. 😉
I heard this refrain in our family recently, so my husband suggested we step things up with sauces.
Because… grilled meats dressed up with a yummy sauce?
All of a sudden, you’re in new territory. It’s as if you created a whole new dish, yet all you did was brush on a new sauce at the end of the grilling time. I love easy fixes like this!
This honey BBQ sauce is a sauce I created recently for my husband. He’s thrilled with it — and so is the whole family. 🙂
By the way, we cook outside nearly all summer long. I collected my tips and recipes for using and creating an outdoor kitchen in our Cooking Outside eBook & Video Package or Cooking Outside eCourse.

Wardee….I am a breast cancer survivor and was told that I have to remove ALL soy products from my diet. I realize that fermented soy is o.k. but when I last checked the bottle of Tamari you have listed in the ingredients, it didn’t say it was fermented soy, just had soy in the ingredients. I have gone to Coconut aminos in place of it. Love your site and recipes!

FYI, this was delicious as pulled pork sliders after it had been in my slow cooker all day!

Can I just skip the soy, worcestershire, etc. that I don’t want?
Danielle says
Hi Beth Ann,
Yes, you can skip them though if you skip them both it may change the flavor. 🙂

Also, how long does this last? Is there a fermented version of this if that would last longer?
Danielle says
Hi Beth Ann,
This will last a few weeks stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
You can lacto-ferment it by adding a few tablespoons of whey. Let it on your counter at room temperature for 3 days before refrigerating.

If you ferment the BBQ sauce, would you still cook it first or would you skip this step?
Danielle says
Hi, Lucie.
You would want to cook it, allow it to cool then add your fermenting liquid and allow it to ferment.
