Essential oils are wonderful for hormone balance in your bath, diffuser, or even applied directly on the skin... yet what could be easier than blending them together in a roll-on bottle? Watch, listen, or read to learn how to make a Hormone-Balancing Essential Oil Roll-On! | AskWardee.tv

Essential oils are great for women, some of them really powerful hormone balancers and mood helpers.

We women need that. Our hormones are everything. 😉

Well… not quite everything, but you know what I mean!

Today, I’m answering Jeannette D.’s question about which essential oils help women with hormone balancing and how best to use them.

The answer is super easy and powerful… combine the best ones in a roll-on!

I’m showing you the best oils for women AND how to best use them on today’s #AskWardee.

Check out the particulars below in print, podcast, or video.

The Question: Which Essential Oils Are Best For Balancing Hormones & How Best To Use Them?

Jeannette D. asked:

I’m in major need of hormone balancing… from my moods to cramps to just trying to feel normal during my cycle. What essential oils are best for this? And how do you recommend I use them?

My Answer: Hormone-Balancing Essential Oil Roll-On

I’m so excited about your question, Jeannette, because ever since Lindsey shared the Top 5 Essential Oils For Women, I immediately got them all out and combined them in a roll-on bottle to use for my own hormone support.

It’s no secret that I’ve been trying to balance my hormones for awhile. While I use bio-identical hormone replacement therapy because no matter what, women’s hormone levels decline with age (more info here), I also use herbs and essential oils to help my body do as much as it can… plus to manage symptoms of PMS and peri-menopause.

My symptoms include: headaches, sleeplessness, emotional sensitivity, fatigue, heavy bleeding, and overall discomfort/cramps.

Sometimes it’s no fun being a woman. 🙁

(Although much of the time it is… don’t get me wrong!)

Here’s a bit about the top 5 oils. Then, I’ll share a roll-on blend recipe. It’s the easiest way to benefit from these womanly oils, in my opinion.

The Top 5 Essential Oils For Women

You’ll find more detailed on the Top 5 Essential Oils for Women right here. Here’s a recap of their properties:

Clary Sage — Helpful for menstrual issues such as cramps and headaches; relieves symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes; calms the nervous system during stress and depression; and promotes relaxation during childbirth.

Ylang Ylang — Calms and strengthens the nervous system; fights depression and promotes relaxation; and boosts libido.

Geranium — Helps women find and maintain hormone balance at all stages; reduces fluid retention and breast tenderness; helpful with adrenal fatigue and related symptoms like depression, nervousness, and chronic fatigue; provides emotional support; and is a powerful aphrodisiac.

Jasmine — Helps with PMS; promotes healing of hormonal acne; reduces the appearance of stretch marks and other scars; may speed up childbirth and provide pain relief; alleviates postpartum symptoms like depression, anxiety, and low energy; increase milk supply; decreases uncomfortable symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, depression, and energy levels; and is a mood-enhancing aphrodisiac.

Cypress* — Helpful for treating cramps, heavy blood flow, irregular periods, and mood swings; is both physically and emotionally calming; stops spasms and pain related to inflammation, cramps, and rheumatism; and calming to those who are stressed or traumatized.

*Pregnant women should not use cypress essential oil.

Awesome properties for women, right? While you can use one, some, or all of them in your bath, infuser, in massage oils, inhaled from the jar, or even some of them directly on the skin…

I like the simple, easy solution of blending them together in a roll-on bottle… so they’re handy and available wherever I go!

Hormone-Balancing Essential Oil Roll-On Recipe

  • 10mL glass roll-on bottle
  • 5 drops total of one or more of the following essential oils: Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Jasmine*, and/or Cypress (we like oils from Rocky Mountain Oils or Aroma Foundry)
  • carrier oil such as almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, or MCT oil

*Jasmine is super expensive. Roughly 8 million blossoms are required to produce 1 kilogram of oil! Just skip it if you don’t have it. Then add it to your wish list. 🙂

Put a total of 5 drops in the glass roll-on bottle. (If you are using 2 oils, use 2 drops of one and 3 drops of the other. If you are using all 5 oils, use just 1 drop of each.)

Fill it to the top with your carrier oil.

Add the roller top and press down as much as you can. Then screw on the lid — that will help push the roller top all the way on.

Tip upside down a few times to blend the essential oils with the carrier oil.

Apply as needed to temples, wrists, neck, tummy, even stretch marks or scars. Take it with you in your purse or keep it handy where you are in the house.

To find out how to get the 10mL air-tight, light-proof glass and stainless steel roll-on bottle, keep reading…

More About The Air-Tight, Light-Proof, Glass & Stainless Steel Roll-On Bottle

The air-tight, light-proof glass & stainless steel roll-on bottle that I’m featuring in this episode is from Infinity Jars! It’s absolutely fabulous for containing your favorite essential oil blends and can be re-used over and over!

This bottle is not your normal roller bottle, oh no…

  • it’s got a stainless steel roller ball instead of plastic — so your oil blend will go on better and smoother (and not gunk up or stick) plus stainless steel is non-reactive and non-toxic
  • the bottle is air-tight so the essential oils’ aroma stays in the jar until you apply — AND it will stay potent between uses instead of degrading quickly
  • the glass itself blocks UV rays to stop decay of the precious essential oils you’ve added to your jar

Hi Wardee, thank you for sharing this. As a 52 going on 53 year old woman, these past several years have been such a rollercoaster dealing with pre-menopause. Even working with a Napro doctor has only helped so much. I am excited to give these oils a try.

On a side note, have you ever tried Best Health Shield essential oil for your cold sores? I heard about it from my dentist’s assistant back in April. I have suffered from cold sore for almost 30 years. I have tried EVERYTHING to avoid getting them (lysine, etc) to stopping them from getting worse if I get one (Abreva, etc). They were all hit and miss. However, this Best Health Shield, which is the same as Thieves essential oil, but MUCH cheaper, is amazing! At the very first sign of a cold sore, I dab some with a cotton swab several times during the day and I can honestly say it totally stops it from going anywhere. I also add coconut oil to keep the area moist and protected. It costs less than $8 on Amazon. I was and still am amazed that it actually works!! Anyway, just an FYI. 🙂

I take 1,000 mg of lysine every morning to prevent cold sores. If I happen to start getting one, I double the dose for a few days & they go away. I used to have terrible ones that hung on for weeks before I found the lysine. Nothing else works for me. This also works if you get shingles or anything else herpes related. It doesn’t totally prevent shingles, but reduces the symptoms drastically!

F.Y.I Lemongrass directly on cold sores or herpes, stings at first but gets rid of them! It worked diluted on my grandsons poison ivy mixed with peppermint and thieves.

This was interesting thank you. As someone who has suffered from debilitating periods for over 18 years you don’t have to explain the suffering they can cause. I wondered if you are aware of this information, I my opinion every woman should be warned of the dangers of Tampax and towels before they are crippled with pain and flooding, if someone had warned me I would have stopped using these things without having any symptoms. The good news is I have been using a menstrual cap and bamboo pads (because I bleed so heavily) for about 2 years now and my bleeding is alot better, I have not been formally diagnosed with endometriosis though and mine is more likely due to stress.

    https://empoweredsustenance.com/menstrual-cup-review/

    https://wellnessmama.com/4668/menstrual-cup/

I will warn you all the reviews saying they just go to the toilet and empty it, oh no no no ! I have to strip waist down in the bath and then wash my lower half because it does everywhere because I have to fold the cap back in quarters, I don’t know how they do it ! Also, I found the thickest ones make me leek less (not due to being full but does not happen when not in heavy flow) but they are harder to insert and if you don’t put them in or out right cor you don’t want to get them suctioned !

I hope I haven’t been too graphic ! I just hope this can help other people who may be suffering needlessly !

Are these oils safe during pregnancy? Wondering if they would help the emotional roller coaster of hormone fluctuations during that time.

      Hi Mrs. C.,

Pregnant women should not use cypress essential oil. That said, we can’t offer medical advice and recommend you check with you physician or mid-wife before using any essential oils.

      God bless you!

I just happened to find your site when searching on Pinterest. I’ve been wanting to find a good hormone balancing oil blend to try and now I have one. I don’t have the Jasmine but I will be putting it on my list of oils to get next. I’m going to check out the rest of your site. Thanks!

I use something similar, but add evening primrose oil and magnesium oil to the base. Love it!

What does that mean? I have a hot flash and apply, the hot flash goes away. Or I have been waking up to hot flashes, so I apply every night and over time they go away.

    Wardee:

I did get the Healthy Living Super Bundle and got my free roller bottle (even bought 10 more!), and finally received them. In the meantime I have misplaced my roller bottle recipe guide that you mentioned in the video. I thought I had organized everything so it would be easy to access, but now I can’t find it. Hopefully you can direct me to it.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for doing the cooking through the bundle recipes. I can follow recipes quite well, but have never been one to deviate too much from what the recipe and it is enlightening to see the process you go through to adapt to your family’s needs and tastes. This is giving me ideas on how to be a bit more adventurous.

The bundle has so much in it, and the cooking through the bundle program directs my focus to make sure I actually try some of the new things out and not just read about them. I did all of the first three and plan to do the 2 cooking recipes that were presented this month. (not sure about the bleach as I tend not to use this much and the one you made does not seem to last long.)

One other thing I wanted to mention. I remember you once did a segment on ideas on how to address the issues of going organic and finding ways to afford the good quality meats etc. I had since been thinking about “free food” and wondered if you ever did a show on that. From time to time I come across information about parts of plants for instance that are edible and typically discarded. i.e.: Cauliflower stalk and green leaves. I now cut these up and add them in to my roasting pan when doing roast vegetables. This incidentally, I find a “safe” way of trying something as it does not constitute the whole dish but you can try the new additions. Another one was fennel fronds and stalks. I now cut up and freeze the stalks for when I make stock and I blend the fronds into a delicious pesto for my soup. What an upgrade!

I would be interested to see what ideas you can share with us.

    Thank you.
